We are in need of a Software QA Engineer who can help us develop a testing strategy and come up with a plan, who will work on our core application, as well as web-based products and API testing. We are looking for someone who has in-depth knowledge of the Software Test Life Cycle, and is motivated to work in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will be someone who doesn’t shy away from problems and will keep trying different things until the issue is resolved.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

  • Support Project Leads by direct contribution towards assessing impediments and recommending improvements to achieve Project Delivery success
  • Write Test Cases, Execute Test Cases, Log Defects, Lead Defect Triage meetings and share recommendations with Project Team
  • Support current QA Team members in an individual contributor role
  • Understands the technical aspects of customer requirements and develops an acceptance test plan
  • Develops and maintains regression/load testing strategy of company product line
  • Reviews change log for each product release and develops a testing strategy
  • Reviews bugs and deficiencies from technical support and makes recommendations
  • Leads the automation framework development, while recommending and implementing new tools and technologies

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree from a reputable school in Computer Science/Software Engineering or related discipline
  • Minimum 3 years in software development or testing in companies where software is the main focus/product
  • Solid understanding of QA concepts and hands-on execution in an Agile environment
  • Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills
  • Experience in testing complex software systems
  • Experience in relational database and ability to write simple database queries
  • A positive attitude in the workplace and the ability to drive change
  • Experience with Linux and command line tools is an asset
  • Experience in object-oriented programming language (Java, C++) is an asset

We’re looking for a true leader – someone who enables and inspires their team to do their best work! You will be the cornerstone for delivery, team management, culture and product quality for the organization. Whilst leading and managing a team of developers, we want someone who will roll their sleeves up and help the team with actual development and code reviews. This role will entail 50% Coding and 50% Managing/Leading a team of developers. The ideal candidate is someone with high energy, whom brings a positive attitude to everything they do. You will also bring a successful track record in leading and managing teams under you, motivating everyone towards one goal.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

  • Managing, coaching mentoring and expanding a team of front-end and back-end engineers
  • Acting as the Development “quarterback” during sprint planning and execution – knowing when and to whom to delegate against outstanding commitments and a prioritized Backlog, but also diving in regularly to provide hands-on support
  • Exhibit strong organizational and project management skills to ensure that all necessary research, technical analysis, effort sizing and cross-team collaboration facilitates initiative timelines and maximizes sprint velocity
  • Coding – complementing your team leadership skills with impactful delivery of expertly built new architecture and product functionality (expect about 50% of your time to be spent in code)
  • Championing and optimizing the agile process – Identifying and addressing gaps in the current process to drive continuous improvement in team velocity, workflow and maximize efficiency by eliminating impediments
  • Working alongside Product to produce innovative solutions and achieve continuous and timely delivery, but knowing how to appropriately challenge timelines, client requests and other cross functional deliverables
  • Setting benchmarking and monitoring expectations, periodic reviews, and adherence to technical best practices including coding standards and compliance with definition of done
  • Evolve coding practices related to quality, architecture and documentation standards
  • Providing technical and architectural expertise, direction and decision to the team
  • Auditing architecture/development plans and determining that scaling, reliability, operational needs match with business and client concerns
  • Aligning technical excellence with business goals

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

  • At least 2+ years in proven management and leadership experience – this means you’ve had a hand in building and leading enterprise software engineering teams
  • Previous experience working in a start up environment is highly preferred
  • 5+ years in developing enterprise applications using Object Oriented Programming, Java/J2EE, Spring Framework / Spring Boot, Tomcat, JBOSS, Rabbit MQ, Redis, Domain Driven Design, XML, JSON, REST, SOAP, SQL (MongoDB, MySQL, MSSQL), Docker, Microservices
  • Previous experience evaluating, procuring and using new technologies
  • A completed Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline
  • Previous experience working with Scrum/Agile/Kanban methodologies

The Implementation Specialist is a hybrid role – you’ll be taking on the duties of our “Configurations” and “Deployments” departments.  Performing Configurations, you’ll be supporting our in-house projects and build out tailored POS solutions for Volanté clients. Performing Deployments, you’ll be on the go and traveling to our new client sites across Canada and the U.S. to install our POS, while providing technical support and training to clients during the install. If you have a passion for technology, travelling, and have strong organizational and time management skills, with previous troubleshooting experience, then we want to hear from you!

Please note: this position requires 50% travel. You must be eligible to travel within Canada and to the US.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

  • Hardware/software installation of our Point-of-Sale (POS) software for new clients of Volante
  • Provide clients with technical support on site
  • Complete all necessary project documentation accurately
  • Provide client-training on our system as needed
  • Perform software and hardware troubleshooting as needed
  • Collaborate with our Projects team to build a customized POS solution to meet our clients’ business needs and goals
  • Provide specialized phone and email support to clients using newly implemented software/features
  • Assist our Deployments (Install) team remotely with operational issues and change requests
  • Undertake information gathering and provide new solutions to client issues using scripts or customized applications
  • Work with our Product Specialist team to identify bugs/issues in the application

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

  • Completed post-secondary education or higher, preferably in IT or a related field
  • Must be eligible to travel within Canada and the US
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work with minimal supervision
  • Excellent customer service orientation – always put the client first!
  • Excellent communication skills – both in verbal and written correspondence
  • Ability to work flexible/changing hours
  • A valid G-Class Driver’s Licence
  • Experience working in the Food and Beverage/ Hospitality Industry is a definite asset
  • Experience with Point of Sale (POS) software is a definite asset
  • Previous customer service experience dealing with irate customers is required
  • 1+ years experience working with Linux and Windows
  • 1+ years experience working with SQL and relational databases
  • An aptitude for data analysis and interpretation
  • Hardware troubleshooting experience is an asset
  • Bash/Powershell Experience is an asset
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
